- Fall wedding at The Griffin House with lush floral garlands - Joe and Taylor
October | The Griffin House is known for its scenic views, and Joe and Taylor's bohemian floral design and full garlands made the tent feel just as lush as the surrounding setting. Photography by Venture Ever After Don't you love these Marquee Letters? Joe and Taylor had plenty of custom touches to the beautiful Griffin House, like the marquee letters, neon signs, and table numbers with pressed flowers. One of the things we love most about The Griffin House is that the space really speaks for itself, but the tented reception is friendly for any floral style. Taylor and Joe opted for garland, which is a great alternative to centerpieces or small bud vases - those blow over easy in the wind out in the gorge. - Swanky Black and White Wedding at the Griffin House - Allison and Davitt
May | Allison and Davitt tied in their love for live music, sweets, and baseball into their sophisticated black and white affair. | Photo By Anais Possamai | Allison and Davitt wanted an elegant, timeless design to complement the black facade of The Griffin House. Their spring wedding features music, which is a huge part of Allison and Davitt's lives. They had a string quartet for their ceremony, and Davitt's band serenaded his bride during the reception. Allison works at See's Candies, and special ordered their favorites to be served for dessert. To commemorate their love of baseball, the couple got custom jerseys with their last name and wedding year on the back. Even though they love rival teams, it's clear they'll be sharing a love of the sport (and each other!) for the rest of their lives. - Korean / American summer wedding at The Griffin House - Eugenia + Andrew
August | Family traveled long and far to find themselves at the beautiful Griffin House for Eugenia and Andrew's summer wedding. Featuring modern, minimalistic details with ceremony bud vases and airy summer florals. | Photo By Here Today Photo | Summer weddings at The Griffin House are always something special, and it was even more special to watch Eugenia and Andrew's family from all over the world witness the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge. We loved the look of the natural beige linens on the wooden tables - an elegant but organic look in the scenic space. Modern touches from the ceramic bud vases and the geometric menus brought a playful and chic touch, with soft summer blooms for a delicate contrast. While summer here is undeniably beautiful, it also brings in gusts of winds - while it looks in romantic in portraits on the cliff, it takes a trained professional to know how to plan for wind gusts. The elegant burlap runners were tied with fishing line under the table in order to stay put, and their budvases were weighted. We love a beautiful design, and part of our job as a planner is to ensure it will work in reality, rather than in theory. See The Vendor Team who made this day a reality at the end of the gallery. - Whimsical wedding at The Evergreen with dried florals - Stephanie and Brian
October | A mix of dried and fresh textured floral arrangements and installations never looked so good in this historic brick venue. | Photo By Yasmin Khajavi Photography | The Evergreen is such a beautiful historic building with great natural lighting - with neutral but warm tones, it's the perfect setting for almost any wedding style. But it's undeniable how good textured neutrals look against the light wood floors and white walls. Stephanie and Brian curated an incredible vendor team - one of their biggest priorities. They wanted the space to feel cozy, and to fully relax. So they hired us (Your Perfect Bridesmaid) to keep everything running smoothly, White Pepper to curate a custom menu and great dinner experience, Allie with Bramble Floral Design to bring in impactful florals, and a few others (see the whole vendor team below!). Bramble’s dried and fresh floral arrangements truly added to the space, and we loved the hop vines installed on the balcony that complimented the existing hanging greenery and made the space feel cozy and lively. We helped design their simple but elegant tablescape to bring it all in together, and the results turned out beautiful! - The Venue Series: Wedding Venues in the Columbia River Gorge
Welcome to The Venue Series! We love helping couples find the best fitting venue for their ideal budget via our standalone Venue Hunt Consultation or Venue Hunt add-on for wedding planning packages. As PNW Planners, we've planned and designed in hundreds of Oregon and Washington venues, and we're sharing some of our favorites and why we love them. All photos featured are from weddings we've coordinated, planned, and/or designed. Welcome to the land of waterfalls, evergreen forests, and a touch of magic – the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon. This is one of our most popular regions we work in when planning weddings for both local Washingtonians and Oregonians, but also for out-of-town couples. The beginning of the Gorge starts just 25 minutes outside of Portland, and stretches to Hood River and then The Dalles before it tapers off into a desert landscape. Throughout this stretch on the Oregon and Washington side, there are mountains and waterfalls, small towns and breweries, wind surfing and hiking - and a handful of wedding venues we know and love, and some newer ones that we’re dying to be at. If you’re from Oregon or Washington, you probably know how beautiful the area is. But you don’t know the true beauty until you get to experience a wedding out here. Before we get into all the Hood River and Columbia River Gorge wedding venues we’ve been to and loved, there are a few things you should know about getting married in this area: Tips for planning a wedding in Hood River or The Gorge Transportation While some of these venues aren’t far from Portland and are a short drive, there are little to no options for rideshare pick ups (Uber, Lyft) once you pass Troutdale. You’ll need to plan on providing transportation for your guests and pick up near Portland or local hotels, or warn your guests ahead of time to arrange for safe rides home. Hotels and Accommodations The Gorge is a popular destination for not just weddings, but for weekend visitors, too. Some hotels in Hood River book out over a year in advance, and most hotels in the area don’t allow any sort of room blocks unless you host an event like a wedding, brunch or rehearsal dinner at the hotel. Be sure to book early, and warn your guests as well! There are AirBnB’s in the area as well, but save yourself some stress by tackling this part as early as you can. The Views and Weather Many of these venues have an incredible mountain view, but make sure you love the venue without the view as well. PNW weather can be finicky, and a cloudy forecast could mean no view - but no matter, we’ll do the rain dance for you before your wedding day for all the good luck. There are so many other tips and tricks we could share about the Columbia River Gorge and Hood River, but our advice will depend on your venue and your priorities. So let’s get into our favorite wedding venues in the Columbia River Gorge. Wedding Venues In The Gorge and Hood River Bridal Veil Lakes Corbett, OR Photographers: Alicia Lucia Photography (1-3), Victoria Carlson (4-6), RR Photo (7-8) Why We Love Them: What’s not to love about a private venue that shows off all the features of the PNW and is only 35 minutes away from Portland? Most couples we’ve worked with say they fell in love with the venue the minute they stepped foot on property. It boasts a private lake (with canoes to have your Little Mermaid “Kiss The Girl” moment, view of the sunset over the gorge, a flourishing garden, a full kitchen prep area and a few covered areas. We LOVE being at this stunning venue, and you’ll find so much inspiration of couples who have utilized the space on our blog below. The venue is family owned, and they all treasure the space and each couple they work with. Especially for out of town guests, this one really wows everyone. Insider Tips: With large properties come logistics you’ll need to plan for! Make sure to account for extra set up time to account for the venue's extensive property. The venue provides wagons to help, but it can take a while to move back and forth between the spaces. You’ll also need a wedding team to help break down at the end of the night - you’ll need to make sure all the tables and chairs are put back. We usually tag team this with an expert catering team so you can go home and enjoy the rest of your wedding night. Cape Horn Estate Stevenson, WA Photographers: Bekah Taylor (1-3) & Cascadia Studios (4-6) Why We Love Them: Cape Horn Estate on the Washington side of the Gorge offers uninterrupted views of the mountains behind the venue’s iconic stone ceremony arch. This venue is perfect for great views and a garden feel. The venue comes with bistro lights strung across the property, a dancing patio, and all the necessary tables and chairs. The venue also has two indoor spaces: The Grange and The Skamania Room. The Grange serves as a fully equipped catering kitchen, a getting ready space, and an indoor option for a smaller wedding or dancing! The Skamania Room is attached to the main garden and is perfect to have your bar and dessert away from the elements. Did we mention the owners are ALSO the owners of Hoda’s Catering? It’s an easy option for an alternative, Mediterranean wedding dinner, but you can also bring in your own caterer. Laruen and Jason’s August wedding we helped coordinate and design was featured in Oregon Wedding Day! Insider Tips: Since the bistro lights are included and always up in the venue space, your rain plan is limited to the indoor spaces or tenting the gravel parking lot - a tent unfortunately cannot be installed on the reception lawn. If you’re interested in one of the spring or fall dates, be sure to mind your guest count if you’re wanting to have an indoor backup plan for reception! The Grange can technically hold 150, but if you want a space for your dance floor without moving tables, we recommend closer to 120. Crag Rat Hut Hood River, OR Photographer: Emily Woodruff Photography Why We Love Them: Crag Rat Hut is just east of Hood River, inland from the Columbia River, and you get a killer view of Mount Hood at a higher elevation. You get to enjoy the view from a mountain lodge-style venue, with a stone fireplace and mountaineering equipment on display. The name (which we’re sure you’re wondering) actually comes from the oldest mountain rescue organization, the “Crag Rats”. This venue is perfect for a cozy-getaway cabin feel. The indoor space is a great place for a reception away from the elements, but al-fresco receptions on the patio have our hearts. For Angelline and Khadi, we helped to flip the ceremony space to reception while guests enjoyed cocktail hour in the indoor event space. And the photos of the mountain behind the tables are just chef’s kiss. Insider Tip: The venue only provides about 90 chairs, so if you’re hoping to invite the max capacity of ~120, you’ll need to rent a few extra seats. And if you want to feel good about the venue you’re spending your money on, all proceeds at the Crag Rat Hut go to a good cause: supporting the mission of rescuing stranded, injured or lost hikers just like the Crag Rats did! Gorge Crest Vineyards Hood River, OR Photographers: Emily Woodruff Photography Why We Love Them: Gorge Crest Vineyards is another venue with a breathtaking view of Mount Hood. Being here feels like a breath of fresh air, and you can really just get lost looking at the view. We’ve watched an entire wedding stop eating dinner to watch the sunset together, because it’s that magnificent. This venue is located adjacent to Hood River on the Washington side of the Gorge, where the drive up to the venue takes you through hillside vineyards and pee-a-boo views of the river. This venue offers so much more than the view, too. There are winding paths that lead you to secret gardens, lawn games, hammocks in the trees, and vine-covered gazebos that couldn’t be more perfect for your marriage license signing or private vow reading. It’s a winery venue like no other, with a focus on the outdoor space. But, their indoor space is also beautiful - you may use it for your cocktail hour while we help flip the lawn space for an al-fresco dinner, or for your covered but open air reception if you keep the large garage-style doors open. Insider Tip: Having your wedding at Gorge Crest means you’ll need to select a few vendors from their preferred list, like your planner, caterer and DJ. We’ve worked with almost all the vendors on their list (which we’re so blessed to be a part of), and we can guarantee they’ll be great for your wedding. You’ll also want to make sure you factor in the in-house wine minimums and transportation costs (the venue parking lot only holds 30 cars) into your budget. If you’re nervous about budgeting, we’re happy to help you organize your budget and let you know all the tips and tricks we’ve learned about planning a wedding at this venue. Mt. Hood Organic Farm Mt Hood, Oregon Photographers: Elissa Deline Photography Why We Love Them: It’s hard to come up with the words to describe how beautiful this place is. Between the views, the curated gardens, the detailed architecture, the historic charm, the colorful mosaics and patterns, and the variety of event spaces you get all to yourself… This venue is one of a kind - truly. We love that the venue has a natural flow from event space to event space, so your guests get to experience the entire beauty of the property with each section of your wedding. It’s an exploratory experience! If you’re someone looking for a venue that has its own charm, there’s no place other than Mt. Hood Organic Farm. Insider Tip: Planning your wedding at Mt. Hood Organic Farm means you’ll be hiring their in-house day-of coordinator and have a provided venue manager. The staff at Mt. Hood Organic Farm and Cassandra Cass Coordinating do an amazing job at helping you on the day, but couples have hired us to lend a heavier helping hand during the planning and design process. Because this is a unique situation, we offer a custom planning process that we’ve worked out with the venue that helps fill in all the gaps where you need, but doesn’t overlap with what you already have. Ask us about planning at Mt. Hood Organic Farm! Skamania Lodge Stevenson, WA Photographers: Lauryn Kay Photography (1-4) & The Ashers (5-10) Why We Love Them: We love Skamania Lodge so much that we wrote a whole blog on this venue alone! We’ve been planning weddings here for over a decade, and know this one like the back of our hands. Skamania Lodge was made for destination weddings and wedding weekends because the lodge offers so many experiences that guests can enjoy beyond the wedding festivities. It’s also a one-stop-shop; The lodge offers tables, chairs and since they will also provide your food and drink in-house, they also offer various place setting options for building your tablescape beyond just simple, white glossy plates. We’ve helped plan weddings where couples just utilize the beauty of the space with a few flourishes, and others where we conceptualized a cohesive, elevated design to bring unique and personal touches to the space. Insider Tip: Skamania Lodge has a few indoor and outdoor event spaces to choose from, and they just opened a new covered pavilion space in 2023 surrounded by forest scenery! That being said, since the lodge can accommodate hundreds of people, it’s likely that another event may be happening on your event weekend. We will help you plan your timeline and photo locations so that your event doesn’t run into other events, and you feel immersed in your day and don’t have to worry about anything else. The Griffin House Hood River, OR Photographers: Auburn Photography (1-3) & Mariana Tey Photography (4-6) Why We Love Them: What’s not to love about this fairytale venue? This may be one of the best views of the Columbia River Gorge you can get, and that’s what sells most couples on the venue. And as many times as our team has been to this venue, the view never gets old. A few perks we love are that the venue has included chairs that match the nature scenery, alternating clear top and white top tent so you’re protected from the elements but get all the natural light, the property opens up as early as 9:00 am for getting ready and complex set up, and flow that works seamlessly between event spaces. The owners of the Griffin House have created such a special place out of their family’s home! Lastly, you have the freedom to book vendors of your choosing, but you will need to hire a wedding planner (and we’d love to be one of your considerations!) Insider Tip: With cliffside views comes cliffside wind - while it makes for a really romantic moment with a billowing veil or dress, the wind can be no joke - we mean bud vases blowing over or off the table, arches threatening to come down, and paper place cards flying away. When planning your design, be sure to keep to heavy items or items that can be tied down - if you have ideas, we’re happy to share our experience or alternatives! On a personal note, we highly recommend you opt for a full service caterer - the venue has an area for food prep, but you’ll need to build it out. Ourselves and your catering team can help you organize and bring the rentals required for a smooth dinner service. The Orchard Hood River, OR Photographers: Andria Lindquist (1-3) & Lauryn Kay Photography (4-7) Why We Love Them: The Orchard feels like you’re at an elevated, backyard wedding, without the complications of a private residence and all the amenities you can dream of. The Orchard is in Hood River, but it's nestled in a functional farm and orchard space just south of the city. This venue features a garden lawn with one of the more up close views of Mt. Hood you can get from a wedding venue, and the borders of the lawn blooms with hydrangeas from May and even into October. Can our garden look like this please? Here it’s peaceful, and full of thoughtful touches that make it easy to host an event. You’ll get access to an airy getting ready room with a fenced-off courtyard, a covered area (the “barn”) with high ceilings and vines of hops already growing up the poles, and the newly landscaped Mt. Adams lawn that can accommodate a tent. The best part? The venue provides the tent if the forecast shows rain at no extra cost! The venue also comes with wooden crossback chairs and farm tables - this is a HUGE plus, and really goes with the feel of the venue. Th And if that’s not enough perks, their exclusive caterer is also one of the best of the best and will provide all the place setting you’ll need. Insider Tip: This venue does require you to book an approved planner (like us) to help manage the day and guide you through planning your wedding at the venue. We’re familiar with their restrictions, inventory, and general flow of the day. The only warning we have to give is that if you’re having a smaller wedding, there isn’t much space to store the unused furniture, so you’ll need to utilize as much as you can. Between The Orchard and Celilo, you have mostly everything you need provided - chairs, benches, tables, umbrellas, headers, and even lawn games. We love it here! Wind Mountain Ranch Stevenson, WA Photographers: In The Alpenglow Photo (1-5) & Jen Jones Photography (6-9) Why We Love Them: Wind Mountain Ranch (previously referred to as Gorge-Ous weddings) is a great blend between a PNW mountain and a western, ranch wedding. The venue sits in a wide open space that The Dixie Chics would approve of on the Washington side of the Gorge, just This venue has a handful of ceremony locations to choose from, each with a wooden trellis to install your draping or florals, or use as is. There’s a pond onsite, mountain views, and gorge views and lush lawns so you can frolic or create a garden lounge space. This venue is one of the few that don’t require transportation, as it has a large parking lot for all your guests! Our favorite part about this venue are the mini cabins on site - they’re perfect for a romantic cabin stay before or after your wedding, signing your marriage license, a moment alone together - and it’s just a short golf cart ride away or a 5 minute walk to the event spaces. These cabins are also available to rent throughout the year, so you can return on your anniversary or any weekend getaway. Insider Tip: Since this venue is tucked away between mountains, internet access can be fairly unreliable so it’ll require a bit of planning ahead of time to make sure your vendors have access to the materials they need. This venue is also under new management, and we’re excited to hear about the new and exciting things coming for Wind Mountain Ranch! Want to know that you've found the best venue? - The Venue Series: Garden Venues Near Seattle, Washington
You're not alone if you want to get married in the beautiful outdoor landscapes of Washington. Sometimes it can be hard to choose between what kind of landscape (garden vs forest vs meadow vs mountain), because Washington really has it all! What we love about the garden wedding venues around Seattle is that they're also forest venues, or farm venues, winery venues, etc. We plan to cover many different venues we've worked at and loved in Washington as part of our Venue Series, we've had many request for the best garden wedding venues near Seattle. Here are some of the garden venues we've had the pleasure of working at within ~45 minutes of Seattle, Washington, and why we think you'll love them. Thornewood Castle Photographers: Mariana Tey Photography (1-4) & Elizabeth Lauren Photography (5-8) Why We Love Thornewood Castle: If you’ve been dreaming of a fairytale wedding, this venue will make all your dreams come true - it’s the only castle on the west coast, and one of the few in the United States. It’s rich with history, and it’s just an hour drive outside of Seattle. We love this venue because it completely sets the tone for your wedding - you can have a minimal design, and you will still feel like you’re in a real-life fairytale inside the garden walls and in the ornate interior. Not to mention, you also get a lake view if you opt for an outside reception. We mean it when we say there are no areas you'd want to hide or cover - every aspect of the property is beautifully designed. Insider Tips: While the grounds are beautiful, they come with a few restrictions. Due to the neighborhood noise ordinance, there isn’t amplified music allowed outside other than for ceremonies (with permission). This means you may opt for a string or other acoustic musician, have your reception inside, or have your DJ or coordinator angle the inside speakers out toward an open window for your outside reception (you’ll get light dinner music). The venue rental time frame is also shorter than others, which means you’ll need to budget for adding extra hours or work with a coordinator to ensure your timeline leaves time for the important moments. It can feel EXTRA short if you don’t use the time wisely! Just ask us how we’ve crafted our timelines for the handful of weddings we’ve worked at Thornwood Castle. Twin Willow Garden Photographer: Chris Klas Photo Why We Love Twin Willow Garden: Twin Willow Gardens is perfect if you can’t decide between a garden wedding venue and a woodsy, forest wedding venue. We love that this venue has designated areas for each part of your wedding, and the paths in between each are beautiful and part of the experience. They’ve developed the ceremony area in an old growth cedar forest with a sturdy wooden arbor and bark chips so you don’t have to worry about mudding up your dress. Then for reception, the venue provides a draped tent to keep guests either dry or cool, depending on your wedding month, with a garden surrounding the area. The owners have included thoughtful touches all around the property, like included bistro lights, a catering area with commercial refrigerators and prep areas (trust us, this makes all the difference for your catering team!), tiki torches, coverings for the DJ, and so many more amenities. This venue has thought of it all, and you don’t need to source much other than items in your tablescape, or if you’re looking to upgrade from white folding chairs. Insider Tips: Since this venue is so amazing, it is BOOKED OUT for 2024 - but there are still plenty of dates for 2025! Twin Willow Gardens requires a professional wedding coordinator, which we’re happy to be one of your considerations for, and we are booking for 2025 as well. Lastly, keep in mind that the ceremony bark chips are not conducive to long, trailing veils. We recommend either to opt for a shorter veil, or have designated veil holders (a great role for kids 5 and up) for your long or cathedral length veil. Dunn Garden Photographers: Bare Bones Photography Why We Love Dunn Garden: Dunn Gardens is the type of venue if you like the beautiful organic look of native gardens, rather than perfectly manicured gardens. Other than the natural beauty of the garden, we love this venue because it allows for delivery of items the day before your event, and pick up the day after! Many venues restrict setup and clean up to the same day of your event, but you’ll have the luxury of not being rushed for set up. This is especially helpful, as you’ll likely need rentals and restrooms delivered for your wedding since the venue does not include tables and chairs. Insider Tips: Since this venue is a Puget Sound Public Park, it does not come with amenities like a covered area, tables or chairs, and other essentials. We’ve worked with CORT and helped couples rent all the necessary items for a functional and beautiful wedding - included a tented wedding! Also note that Dunn Gardens has an earlier noise ordinance of 9pm, but you can start as earlier or plan on moving to a nearby afterparty location to get your fix of late-night dancing and drinks since - the garden is just 10 minutes or less away from local hotspots. Wisteria Gardens Photographer: Nick Hanyok Why We Love Wisteria Gardens: If you love the romantic and whimsical look of gardens, Wisteria Gardens has a property that you’ll love. The real highlight is the 50 foot trellis of magical wisteria. But other features you may love are the spacious barn and silo for your reception and cocktail hour. This venue is great if you plan on having a large guest count, with a capacity of 150-200 guests inside the event barn. You’ll be able to bring in whatever style you like, but they do have a full inventory of decor if you’re wanting to bring in a rustic or eclectic look. If you want to bring in another style, we believe you can transform any space and would be happy to help coordinate your rentals, or even choose from the venue's inventory. You can also choose whatever caterer you like, and the venue comes with a full kitchen prep area. Insider Tips: This venue only allows beer, wine, and champagne, so if you’re dead set on signature cocktails, you may have to look elsewhere. However, there are so many other perks to this venue. This venue’s space allows for an indoor or outdoor reception, and the barn is heated for weddings in colder months. University of Washington Center for Urban Horticulture Photographers: Lloyd Photo and Film Why We Love UWCUH: While the name is long (we’ll call it UWCUH for short) there is SO much to love about this venue, which is a part of University of Washington’s Botanic Gardens. We helped plan, design and coordinate one of our favorite summer designs here for Bridgette and Lawrence’s wedding, but have had the pleasure of being here a handful of times. While the venue allows for flexibility in how and where you onsite have your wedding, we love long family style receptions under the canopy of trees in the Goodfellow Grove - there's nothing like it! We’ve had most couples opt for an al fresco reception, but the atrium-like space at the Merrill Commons offers a perfect place for dancing. It has floors made for dancing. Insider Tips: If you’re planning on using multiple event spaces at the UWCUH, you’ll definitely want to make sure you rely on your wedding planner and catering staff to make sure you have everything you need at each space. That means potentially two bar set ups, a few water stations, an area designated for catering kitchen and prep, as well as any comforts for your guests. Fox Hollow Farm Photographer: Courtney Jess Photograph Why We Love Fox Hollow Farm: Love the estate look? Fox Hollow Farm is perfect for a garden-meets-countryside-estate wedding. Fox Hollow Farm offers both wooded hills, garden lawns, and a rustic barn. This venue is owned by the venue collective Landmark Event Co. and Herban Feast, which means that you can guarantee you have the basics included in your venue rental: an expert catering team, simple places settings, and chairs and tables galore. The catering team actually grows many of their own vegetables at Fox Hollow Farms for a real farm-to-table experience, with very little distance between the farm and your table. Insider Tips: Landmark Event Co. venues always provide good amenities and allow a 10 hour venue rental timeframe, but be aware that 3-4 hours of that timeframe have to be allotted to set up, and 1 hour of that time frame allotted to clean up. Based on our experience, this is fairly standard, and 3 hours set up time and 1 hour of clean up is what we also recommend, but we’re happy to show you how the timeline will pan out! Landmark Event Co. also has many in-house services, from catering, to florists, to entertainment, and this venue does require that you either hire their in-house services or a pre-approved vendor for most vendor categories. This will guarantee a smooth event, since all your vendors will be familiar with the space, but will limit your options. Our team at Your Perfect Bridesmaid is already an approved planner! Black Diamond Gardens Photographer: Levi Hriczo (1-3) & Sarah Jane Photography (4-7) Why We Love Black Diamond Garden: POV: you host your wedding in a stunning greenhouse and garden! This venue is gorgeous from spring with all the new blooms, to summer with the lush gardens and warm weather, to fall with a garden full of vibrant colors. This venue is great for the plant lovers who want to be surrounded by greenery and flowers, and a bit further away from the city. We love the atmosphere here, with expansive property guests get to enjoy, with meadows, forests, ponds and even farm animals. Black Diamond Garden includes uncommon perks you didn’t even think to ask for (as well as the basics): A 12 hour rental period on all weekend dates, including Sundays 10 foot wooden farm tables Use of the venue for a 2-hour engagement shoot Use of the fire pit (fire season dependent), and they even provide the firewood Insider Tips: This venue has a lot to offer, but one thing it does not have is a certified kitchen that allows cooking onsite. It does have a full prep station, so you may have to plan on hiring a local caterer or work with a coordinator or caterer to get the proper warming equipment rented and delivered onsite. This venue is about 45 minutes from Seattle and 30 minutes from the SeaTac area, so it’s still manageable for locals to make the trip, but out of town guests will need to coordinate transportation and accommodations. If you’re looking for a wedding venue that is away from the city and offers a scenic view, you’ll definitely find it in The Willamette Valley, AKA Oregon wine country. We’ve been planning and designing at many of these venues for years, but have had the pleasure of working at newer venues in the more recent years. For obvious reasons, the Willamette Valley is perfect for wine lovers, with most of the wedding venues being active wineries with year-round tasting rooms, so you can always return to the same place to celebrate your anniversary and reminisce on your favorite wedding memories. However, there are also a handful of wedding venues that are nestled in the valley that are made just for events. Whether you’re looking for a venue that offers award-winning wine, or love the lush scenery of the rolling hills and vineyards that stretch across them, here are a few wedding venues we’ve worked at and loved! Abbey Road Farm Photographers: Andrea Zajonc Photography (1-4), Kassandra Out West (5-8) Why We Love Them: We love Abbey Road Farm because it was MADE for events. Their event area has lighting that you can dim or turn off in sections, curtains to have a dramatic reception reveal, a large enough space for an indoor ceremony and reception without a flip, as well as a large outside area for an al-fresco ceremony and reception. With so many amenities and a helpful and experienced staff, you get a lot of bang for your buck. Maybe one of the best features of Abbey Road Farm is the onsite lodges and suites that can accommodate just you and your spouse after your wedding night, or your whole wedding party and family before and after. Not having to drive somewhere between getting ready and your wedding or go somewhere after your wedding night is extremely underrated! Insider Tip: The path from the lodging to the venue crosses the parking lot - if you’re staying onsite the night before your wedding and getting ready in one of the suites, be sure to factor in time to move to the getting ready room before your guests arrive so you don’t have to worry about being seen. We also recommend booking out the rooms - you won’t regret it! It gives you a place to stay beforehand, a large place to get ready, and even an area to keep the party going for a small group after the wedding. The Bindery Photographers: Brady Bates Photography (1-3) & Monique Serra (4-6) Why We Love Them: If you’re torn between “getting away” and “staying central” for your wedding, The Bindery in McMinnville is the perfect venue! It’s located right in the heart of the town, so there are local food options, places to stay, and places to party after that are all walkable. The Atticus is right across the street! The Bindery is a great venue if you’re looking for a blank canvas. With high ceilings, white walls (and ceilings!) and clean concrete floors, you can do anything in this space. We’ve brought in farm tables, had florists hang ceremony installations, and we would love to help you dream up a unique design for this blank canvas. Insider Tip: The space is large enough to accommodate 180 people, but you’ll need a team to flip the space from ceremony to reception. With two planners for every package we offer, we’ll always have you covered for flips! The venue also offers a full and a half day package, in case you’re only looking for a ceremony or reception only space. Old School House Photographers: Meagan Gibson Photography (1-3) & Kelby Maria Photography (4-6) Why We Love Them: The Old School house is a great option if you love the location of the wine country but are looking for a quaint, historic venue instead of a winery venue. The Old School is a charming, historic building that was originally a community center and has since been restored to the charming event venue it is today. You’ll love the charming details of the indoor space that make for beautiful portrait opportunities. This venue offers an indoor ballroom, a garden space and even an orchard space amongst the trees and can accommodate up to 130 people. We’ve planned both outdoor and indoor weddings, and even a combo of the two, but it’s a real bonus that the venue’s indoor space has an AC system for hot summer days! Insider Tip: You’ll need to choose your caterer from the venue’s preferred list of caterers. Unfortunately, no drop-off catering is allowed, but the list of caterers includes both elevated and affordable options for catering. The venue does require a wedding coordinator, but the team highly encourages one, and we agree! We’re happy to share our expertise at The Old School house and make sure your setup and cleanup follows the venue’s requirements. Saffron Field Vineyard Photographer: Sweetlife Photography Why We Love Them: Did someone say a modern winery with a water feature, magical landscaping and curated art and sculptures? Saffron Field Vineyard is perfect for the wine and art lovers - the whole property from inside to outside is thoughtfully designed. The inside has both installation pieces and art hanging from the walls, the garden paths have sculptures nestled in the landscaping, and even the building itself is a beautiful, modern piece of architecture. Plus, their staff is kind and caring! Once upon a time, we were working with a couple whose wedding venue burned down and we had to find them a last minute venue - enter, Saffron Field Vineyards. They were such team players and considerate during the stressful change, but the wedding couldn’t have turned out more beautiful! We love this venue for their modern interior, and their magical landscaping. Insider Tip: You’ll need to budget for bringing in rental items like chairs, tables, and other items for weddings at this venue, and ensure setup and break down happens during your venue rental. Rental coordination is something we always include in our packages, so we can help you organize everything you need. Zenith Vineyards Photographers: Modern Art Photograph (1-4) & Narrative Images Photography (5-7) Why We Love Them: Zenith is one of the best spaces in the Willamette Valley to accommodate large guest counts, for either an indoor or outdoor wedding. The spacious lawn offers a few options for your scenic background for the ceremony, and the ornate, indoor ballroom features European-style features and high ceilings for a unique look. This might also be one of our favorite venues in the fall - the garden area is lined with vibrant trees, and guests are greeted with golden vineyards and trees on the drive to the venue. Insider Tip: Depending on when you choose to have your ceremony, the tasting room may be open to the public. However, even if that is the case, you can let your guests know that they are welcome to get a drink before the ceremony while it’s open for extended time at the venue. The venue also has a list of preferred and approved caterers you’re required to pick from, but if you’re looking for a professional full service caterer, you won’t have any issues with their options. Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard Photographers: The Double Shot Project (1-3) & Bekah Taylor Photography (4-7) Why We Love Them: Being at the Black Walnut Inn feels like you’ve been transported to a luxury Tuscan getaway, with its beautiful courtyard, stone fountain, and a private view of the rolling hills. It’s quiet, serene, and the staff will treat you with the utmost kindness. You’ll love this venue for wedding weekends since a venue rental at Black Walnut Inn includes a room block of 9 rooms in the main B&B. There’s really nothing like a private getaway for a wedding weekend, and there aren’t too many venues in Willamette Valley or in Oregon that offer the same privacy and scenery that BWI does We’ve had the opportunity to create some of our favorite luxury wedding designs here, some of which have been featured on Style Me Pretty and published in Oregon Wedding Day. The space allows for a few layouts - you can see how different couples have used the space on our blog! Insider Tip: Black Walnut Inn lies on agricultural land with special noise regulations, which means that amplified music is limited to their indoor spaces. Most often, couples have their dinner in the upper or lower courtyard, so we’ve worked with great musicians that we’d love to connect you with for an acoustic performance outside before the dance party begins! You will also want to factor transportation into your budget as well, as parking is limited to onsite guests. But don’t worry - we’ve helped many couples plan and budget for these things! Want to know that you've found the best venue? We love helping couples find the best fitting venue for their ideal budget via our standalone Venue Hunt Consultation or Venue Hunt add-on for wedding planning packages. - The Venue Series: Best Wedding Venues in Woodinville, Washington
Woodinville isn't just a dot on the map; this place is like a secret garden for couples seeking an elevated, quiet backdrop to say “I Do” in. The first time we toured venues in Woodinville, the area stole our hearts. It really is the perfect place to get married if you’re looking for an elevated wedding in an area that’s close to the city but away from the hustle and bustle. Woodinville is just a 25 minute drive from the heart of Seattle, so it’s feasible for city locals and out-of-towners who want to stay in a central area to zip over via any rideshare app, and has a few affordable hotel options just minutes away from Woodinville venues. The Columbia Valley has a handful of venues, most of which are also desirable tasting rooms or lodges to entertain or house your guests. Whether you're drawn to the region's renowned wineries, its lush outdoor settings, or the warm and welcoming community, Woodinville sets the stage for a wedding or even wedding weekend celebration. Here are some of our favorite Woodinville wedding venues we’ve been to and loved. Tour Venues in Woodinville February 4th, 2024 Videographer: Winkler Weddings If you’re looking for the best opportunity to see some of these Woodinville Wedding Venues, you’ll want to purchase tickets to the Weddings In Woodinville event and tour on February 4th, 2024. Ticket holders (which can be your fiancé, your wedding partner, or any other support systems) get to tour some of the best venues in the area while the venues are all dressed up and styled to the max. Each venue showcased a different design, a plethora of local vendors to meet, and free food, wine, and cocktails while you’re touring each space. In February 2023, we designed the space in The Winemakers Reserve that attendees still rave about today. This year, we’ll be planning and designing an extravagant experience at Novelty Hill-Januik Winery. We can’t wait! Now onto our favorite wedding venues in Woodinville! Winemakers Reserve Photographer: Rebecca Jane Photography Why we love them: Winemakers reserve offers a unique and spacious blank canvas that wine lovers especially will appreciate. The venue’s main event space takes place in their production area, with gleaming, state-of-the-art, steel equipment on display for admiration. It's large enough to bring in large displays or even a bouncy house! When we designed an event in this space for Weddings in Woodinville 2023, we played to the beauty of the equipment with colored uplights, disco ball galore and other sparkly elements. Seattle Balloon Artists brought in a giant, white bouncy house that was a hit! We also love the ambiance of the space when you turn off all the lights and use the venue’s included bistro lights. Insider Tip: The venue provides chairs, but you’ll need to work with a trusted rental company to bring in tables for your wedding. If you want to wow your guests with a transformation, we highly recommend hosting your cocktail hour in the venue’s tasting room and closing the garage to allow for a room flip. For a past event, we brought in black pipe and draping to hide the view beyond the production room entrance to allow for a grand reveal of the space - it was a hit, and we loved seeing the excitement! Willows Lodge Photographer: Kayla Sprint Why we love them: Willows Lodge is not only a beautiful destination for a summer wedding, but for winter weddings as well! What we love most about this venue is the outdoor garden space, with its beautiful gazebo and trellis, with optional heating and deployable siding to keep guests warm or dry through any season. The lodge also offers various indoor and outdoor spaces for ceremony and reception that can accommodate up to 150 people. The venue provides all the necessities (chairs, tables, glassware, linens, food and drink) in house to save you money on rentals, as well as onsite lodging, so it’s really a one-stop shop. The rooms and suites at Willows Lodge are perfect to treat yourself or your wedding party and family, with beautiful jacuzzi tubs and balconies that overlook the gardens. Plus, there’s nothing quite like a short walk up the stairs to your wedding night room after a long day of celebrating. Insider Tip: The venue provides at least 2 hours of set up time, but if there are no events before your event, you can set up earlier - make sure to keep this in mind if you have complex flower or decor plans. The venue also provides both room blocks and courtesy blocks at a discount for your group when you book an event, but don’t allow room blocks otherwise. Crystal Lake Lodge Photographer: Hatch Photography Why we love them: Crystal Lake Lodge offers a different scenery than most of the winery venues in Woodinville. This venue is a charming, lakeside lodge surrounded by a lush, wooded landscape for more of a PNW feel. You'll feel immersed in nature with just you and your people. The clubhouse also comes with almost all the amenities you'll need, with chairs, tables, placesettings and even additional options like a PA system you can rent, so if you're looking for a one-stop shop, this place is it! Insider Tip: If you're looking for more information, you won't find too much on the internet. It's typically exclusive to the local residents in the area, so anyone hoping to have a wedding here must have a sponsor. Sponsors can either be one of the owners themselves or a local member of the Crystal Lake Clubhouse. Couples interested in getting married here just need to call for more information and to set up a tour and meeting! You can call Maureen at the Clubhouse's publicly listed number: 206-595-1037 Chateau Lill Photographer: Amy Soper Photography Why we love them: Chateau Lil has both great indoor and outdoor options, with the ability to tent the outdoors spaces for the best of both worlds. The venue is also great for those who want to prioritize guest experience, with goats and alpacas onsite entertain, and a romantic garden area with a pond and gazebo to roam. We also love this venue because the space itself sets the tone for any wedding, with its French-inspired architecture. Insider Tip: The venue has a preferred list of caterers that couples are required to choose from, but we’re happy to help narrow down the options depending on your budget and priorities and point you in the right direction. In addition to caterers, you’ll want to secure an approved planner, which means they have signed a “Planner Agreement”, otherwise you might incur an extra fee. But don’t worry, we’ve already done so! JM Cellars Can't wait to be here in 2024! Why we love them: JM Cellars is a really beautiful hidden gem. Unlike some other winery venues and tasting rooms, this venue is tucked away in the forest and feels like you’ve stepped into an elevated backyard garden-party. It’s forested and shaded for hot summer days. This venue has options for both indoor and outdoors spaces, depending on your guest count. We love that the venue provides wooden tables, which always makes for a more elevated look and fits in perfectly with the scenery. And if wood tables aren’t your style, they have other rentals and options as well. Insider Tip: Before you make your bar menu designs, keep in mind that this is a beer and wine exclusive venue, and signature cocktails are limited to two options for 1 hour during the event. We recommend offering only during cocktail hour, of course. It’s also important to note that parking is very limited, so budgeting for transportation is highly recommended to ensure a smooth event. Don’t know how to do so? We can help! Novelty Hill Can't wait to be here in 2024! Why we love them: Novelty Hill is one of those venues that always "wow"s guests. It’s tucked away in the hills of Woodinville and has the most beautiful, modern architectural details. If you’re someone looking for a well-designed venue to be your foundation, this is it! We love their modern courtyard that has polished, cement details and a neutral garden space so you can bring in any design. Their Terrace Room, dedicated for events, is just as stunning, with high ceilings and modern wooden slat details. One detail we always find ourselves admiring is not only the delicious in-house food and wine, but the kitchen that can be exposed to guests and showcase the magic happening. Nothing like getting your guests excited about dinner like seeing and smelling the preparation! Insider Tip: We’re one of Novelty Hill-Januik’s preferred planners, and are familiar with all of the venue’s requirements, restrictions and perks. When planning here, it’s important to note that the beautiful courtyard can be perfect for an al-fresco dinner, but you’ll need to have a guest count well under 100 to do so. The courtyard also requires a specific sized tent, but luckily, their preferred rental company, CORT, is also one of our preferred companies and we always help our couples coordinate all their rentals. It’s also important to keep in mind that Vendor access doesn’t start until 2pm, since the venue is an active tasting room, you’ll need to plan for a 6pm ceremony or later. Planning a wedding at any of these venues? We're happy to share our expertise and experience to help you plan your wedding in Woodinville. We love helping couples find the best fitting venue for their ideal budget via our standalone Venue Hunt Consultation or Venue Hunt add-on for wedding planning packages. - The Venue Series: Indoor Wedding Venues around Portland
Welcome to the Venue Series! Your wedding venue is the foundation of your wedding, and you deserve to find one that fits your needs and vision. As PNW Planners, we've planned and designed in hundreds of Oregon and Washington venues. We're sharing some of our favorite venues and why we love them. All photos featured are from weddings we've coordinated, planned, and/or designed. We love helping couples find the best fitting venue via our standalone Venue Hunt Consultation or Venue Hunt add-on for wedding planning packages. Portland, Oregon, is home to hundreds of wedding venues that are located to allow you to hop to after-party spots or even walk from a nearby hotel. Not to mention, there is a plethora of vendors local to the city so you can avoid travel fees. Rustic, whimsical, boho, or whatever your theme is, Portland has it all. Yet, with so many choices, it can be hard to narrow down your search. If you're from the Pacific Northwest, you know how unreliable the weather can be. So, an indoor venue is a safe option for winter weddings or those scorching summer days. Your Perfect Bridesmaid has been lucky enough to work at some of the top indoor venues Portland has to offer. We'll continue to add to this blog, and if you're looking for more indoor or other venue options, contact us to set up your Venue Hunt! Here are 5 indoor Portland Wedding Venues you need to have on your tour list. 1. Castaway Portland Photographers: Kate Ames (1-3), Bekah Taylor Photography (4-7), and Naba Zabih (8-10) Why we love them: Castaway might be one of the venues we've been to the most! Situated in NW Slabtown, Castaway gets gorgeous light streaming in through the wall-to-wall windows, and has a spacious interior that allows you to bring in any design to transform the space. The modern, industrial space can accommodate any design and has a ton of included amenities, including tables, black folding chairs, a getting ready space, full kitchen and more. Their ceiling also allows for rigging installations like disco balls - not something every venue can do. A small touch, but we also love that the venue comes equipped with house plants that you can move around to use for your wedding! Insider Tip: Castaway offers an amazing covered patio space that’s great to host an open-air cocktail hour, bring in a food truck, and more. The space is permanently covered by a tent, but it really comes in handy on hot and rainy days! There are so many ways you can use the space - we've seen dozens of different layouts, and we're happy to help you find the best one for you and your plan. 2. Amaterra Photographers: Lauryn Kay Photography (1-3), Lin Jirsa (4-5) and Bekah Taylor Photography (6-9) Why we love them: Amaterra provides a luxury interior AND exterior space so you get the best of both worlds, and is known for their exquisite in-house catering and wine - we can vouch! Their head chef and team are passionate about their menus, so it’s always a great dinner experience for you and your guests. The light wood walls in their banquet room allow for a variety of modern designs, whether that’s a neutral design or bright colors. It's safe to say that there isn't another venue with an indoor view like Amaterra has. The floor to ceiling windows let in beautiful light, and make for a great backdrop for an indoor ceremony option. Insider Tip: The interior space can be separated into two rooms with a wall divided if you opt for an all indoor event, which allows us to flip your ceremony space into your reception space without guests having to see the chaos. 3. The Exchange Ballroom Photographers: Nate Meeds (1-4) and Pretty Geeky (5-6) Why We Love Them: We love the exchange ballroom for its partnerships with the amazing catering company, Vibrant Table, and its rooftop option for cocktail hour and photos! Many couples who want an indoor space also want an outdoor area to escape to during the day, and this venue has both. It’s always easy when your venue and caterer are one and the same for a seamless wedding day. This space also offers unique opportunities to play with lighting for a dramatic transformation, since you can close their floor to ceiling curtains. Insider Tip: The rooftop is a great addition, but for ceremonies, it’s difficult to get the chairs and equipment up. However the venue has a great system for cocktail hour, and what’s cooler than sipping a drink while overlooking the Portland skyline?! 4. The Evergreen Photographers: The Ashers (1-3) and Taylor + Madye (4-6) Why We Love Them: We love the charm that this historic building has to offer, with its white and brick walls and hanging plants that add warmth to the space. It also has beautiful windows. Alcohol services are also provided through the venue, so that means one less vendor you’ll need to book. The venue is also right about Loyal Legion, making it an option for an after party add on. Insider Tip: The venue has a preferred catering list, and requires full service catering most events, but they’re list is composed of many of our favorite caterers. We know The Evergreen like the back of our hands, and even offer a special day-of coordination planning package for those who book at the Evergreen - ask us about it if you’re getting married at the Evergreen. 5. Redd on Salmon (by Ecotrust) Photographers: The Ashers (1-3) and Rebecca Rizzo (4-6) Why We Love Them: Redd on Salmon by Ecotrust might be one of the best venues for large weddings, with a capacity of 670 in the main hall. While your wedding may not be that big, the space allows for both ceremony and reception to conformably be in one place without needing a room flip. We also love the Redd for its tall ceilings and the ability to bring in dramatic installations, like we did for Juice and Adge’s greenery transformation, and the ability to host large parties like a Sangeet. Not only that, but the venue includes a variety of furniture, like basic chairs, square bistro tables, and round tables to house all your guests. Insider Tip: Lots of guests mean lots of people needing a place to park - you can rent a parking lot through the venue with a separate agreement, or we can help you coordinate transportation with one of our favorite companies! Ecotrust also has a few other venue spaces that we've also worked at - check them out! More Indoor Weddings Coming Soon! Want to know that you've found the best venue? - The Venue Series: Washington Wedding Venues with A View
Photo by Erin Perkins Photography Welcome to The Venue Series! We love helping couples find the best fitting venue via our standalone Venue Hunt Consultation or Venue Hunt add-on for wedding planning packages. As PNW Planners, we've planned and designed in hundreds of Oregon and Washington venues, and we're sharing some of our favorites and why we love them. Your venue is the foundation of your wedding, and you deserve to find one that fits your needs, budget and vision. All photos featured are from weddings we've coordinated, planned, and/or designed. With a diverse landscape, Washington has plenty of views to offer. We've had the opportunity to work at many venues, but these 8 wedding venues with a view in Washington are some of our favorites. We're sharing why we love them, and a few insider tips we've learned along the way! North Fork Farm - Snoqualmie, WA Featuring a view of Mt. Si Photographers: Bear Beau Photography, (1-3) and Lloyd Photo and Film (4-6) Why we love them: North Fork Farm offers an incredible view of Mt. Si, so it's great for mountain lovers, and sits on 10 acres of property. It's quiet and serene for those looking to get away, but also offers a modern interior for extreme weather fiascos. There's also plenty of nearby hotels and accommodations near by that we always help connect couples to, making it a great spot for a PNW destination wedding. Insider Info: NFF includes tables and chairs, a prep kitchen, a few arbor options - all of which covers the bases! However, you'll want to make sure you have a coordinator to help manage the set up of any other rental items or decor. You'll also want to make sure your timeline accounts for the 9pm or 10pm noise ordinance, depending on the day. Kiana Lodge - Poulsbo, WA Featuring a waterside view of Bainbridge Island Photographers: Hannah Henden Photography (1-3) & Bear Beau Photography (4-7) Why we love them: One of our very own planners got married at this venue, so you know it's good! Kiana Lodge is right on the water, with an uninterrupted view overlooking Bainbridge Island. We love that the lodge has beautifully manicured outdoor areas, and a cozy, wooden interior with hanging plants that makes you feel like you're still in nature. The lodge also has amenities that shouldn't be overlooked, like staffing to direct parking, an included bonfire (dependent on fire restrictions), and folding chairs and round tables. Insider Tip(s): The venue provides wonderful in-house catering and bar, so no outside food or drink is allowed. If you plan to do an inside ceremony, make sure you have a crew (like us!) who can help you flip the space to reception. While the exterior is beautiful for ceremony, we don't recommend dining outside- the outdoorsy area is prone to crows. Treehouse Point - Issaquah, WA Featuring a view of the lush forest from the vantage point of treehouses Photographers: B. Sweet Imagery (1-3) & Nicole Gagne Photo (4-8) Why we love them: This venue is perfect for those looking for a unique experience in addition to a great venue! Treehouse Point is actually an AirBnB, so you can rent out all the treehouses for a full weekend experience! And if you do, we're happy to coordinate and plan your weekend with you. What we'll never get over is the treehouses themselves - they're amazing to stay in for your wedding night, for getting ready, or to treat your VIP guests to a unique experience. Insider tip: The venue provides an outdoor tent during the summer for dinner receptions! For those who don't love a tented reception, the lawn works great for an uncovered option given that weather cooperates. The Admiral’s House - Seattle, WA Featuring a view of the Seattle skyline and Mt. Rainier across the Puget Sound Photographers: Wiley Putnam (1-3) and Matthew Land (4-7) Why we love them: The Admiral's House is a historical landmark that offers stunning views of the Puget Sound, Mt. Rainier and downtown Seattle in total privacy. Not only that, but the interior has a sophisticated atmosphere that will make you feel like royalty. It's one of our favorite and most frequented luxury wedding venues. We love that the ceremony garden that has the intimate feel of a backyard wedding and beautiful blooming hydrangeas. The reception space is also spacious, lending plenty of room for a clear or white top tent to provide shade, protection, or opportunities for installations. Insider Tip: There is minimal parking onsite, so butler service and/or transportation is a must for this venue - good thing that service from our friends Butler Seattle is included for 8 hours! The venue also has an exclusive catering list, but we love all the caters listed and you won't be disappointed. Edylnn Farms - Graham, WA Featuring a view of Mt. Rainier Photographers: Erin Perkins (1-3) & Tasha Owens (4-6) Why we love them: Edlynn Farms is a wonderful and private venue. The spacious barn can accommodate up to 300 for lager weddings, even with a 20x20 dancefloor, and even includes round tables and folding chairs. And when the skies are clear, you get a stunning view of Mt. Rainier! It's a great setting for a traditionally rustic design with the wooden interior of the barn, but with the right vendors and design, you can totally transform the interior with it's high ceilings and raptors. Insider Tip: The venue is respectful to their neighbors, so be sure to notify your DJ to keep noise levels under 85 decibels to party without interruption. Crystal Mountain - Mt. Rainier National Forest Featuring an up-close view of Mt. Rainier from the mountain top Photographers: Erin Perkins Photography (1-3) & Claudia Noelle Photography (4-7) Why we love them: What's not to love about one of the tallest venues in Washington and and a venue that provides in-house catering?! This might be one of the best views of Mt. Rainier that you can get at a wedding venue, situated on the top of Crystal Mountain. It's great for mountain lovers (like Chelsea and Chris who really rolled with the PNW theme) who still want a formal inside space for reception with amenities and temperature control. Insider Tip: Guests and vendors have to catch a gondela ride up to the venue, which requires good communication and logistical coordination to ensure everyone gets up at the right time - but hiring a coordinator solves all of this for you! Plus, the venue offers discounted rates for Monday-Thursday weddings, and others for Friday and Sunday, depending on the package. The Golf Club at Newcastle - Newcastle, WA Featuring a panoramic view of the Puget Sound and surrounding skylines Photographers: Alex Lasota (1-3) & Mathew Land (4-7) Why we love them: The Golf Club at Newcastle is amazing for a few reasons, but most couples love it for its upscale feeling and private view overlooking the Puget Sound. The venue provides an attentive team to staff the day, in-house catering, and stunning getting ready rooms. Plus, if you're getting ready onsite, you can play a round of golf to fill in the morning hours of the wedding. You also have a variety of backdrops and locations to chose from. We've planned weddings where ceremony was on the ballroom patio (the best view) and reception inside St. Andrews Ballroom, and others where ceremony and reception took place in the tented and draped Prestwick Terrace - both are stunning! Insider Tip: The golf club, like most in-house options, have a food and beverage minimum and a standard automatic gratuity charge, so make sure to factor this into your budget from the get go. Woodmark Hotel - Kirkland, WA Featuring a lakeside view of Lake Washington from the East side. Photographers: B. Jones Photography (1-3) & Blue Rose Photography (4-6) Why we love them: Woodmark Hotel is an all-in-one wedding, and it's perfect for destination weddings since guests can stay onsite and enjoy all the festivities. The venue rental also includes more luxurious rentals, like white chiavari chairs, in house AV service, and a dance floor, as well as basic dinnerware, tables and other common amenities. We also love that the venue provides 4 hours of set up for luxury installs that take more time, and even a private boatride for the couple on the lake! There's no better way to spend a moment alone together after ceremony before the rest of the reception festivities begin. Insider Tip: For guests not staying at the hotel, your guests will need to pay a parking fee to park onsite longer than the 2 complementary hours. To avoid this, you can either cover the fees for your guests, or reserve a shuttle bus or two to transport your guests not staying onside. Also note that the venue's outside spaces also have a 9:00 pm noise ordinance, but for their inside spaces, you can party until 11:00 pm. - Elegant, all-white garden wedding at Deepwood Estate - Meghan and Cameron
August | Deepwood Estates reminds us of a beautifully manicured English garden. We loved the all-white look in this space! | Photo By Sweetlife Photography | Meghan and Cameron's venue choice had deep sentimental value, as Meghan's roots were firmly planted in Salem. The picturesque setting was nothing short of romantic for their elegant, luxury wedding. They opted for a refined, white and ivory color palette, accentuated by hints of green and gold. The luxury came from lush white blooms by Swoon Floral Design that adorned every corner, and their elevated chairs and accents we brought into the garden space. While Meghan had a clear vision from the outset, we had the privilege of translating her dreams into reality and transforming the expansive 40x100ft tent. We helped lead the charge with our Deluxe Package to create a cohesive plan and organize every detail, but one of the main benefits of our full service wedding planning packages is the time it takes off our client's hands. Meghan was wrapping up her internship in preparation for law school, she only concluded weeks before the wedding, and Cameron was dealing with a serious injury from either snowboarding or skiing earlier in the winter. But despite undergoing surgeries and rigorous physical therapy, Cameron was determined to recover to be able to walk down the aisle on their special day. Miraculously, his recovery aligned perfectly with the wedding week, sparing any need for crutches or a wheelchair. It was a love story we'll never forget, and a wedding design that will be truly timeless. See The Vendor Team who made this day a reality at the end of the gallery. - The Venues Series: Wedding Venues on the Oregon Coast
The Oregon Coast is unlike any other beach - we are convinced! There’s nothing like the cool, misty air of Oregon beaches and getting to watch the mesmerizing waves crash in the background. You can always elope anywhere on the coast, but this blog is for those looking for Oregon Coast wedding venues to host a small to large wedding. There are limited options, depending on what kind of wedding you’re hoping to have, but we’re here to help you find the best one for you. If you’re also considering venues on the Washington coast, be sure to check out our list of Washington Coast & Island venues. Before you begin planning your Oregon coast wedding, there are a few things you should know. Public Beaches & Permits If you live in Oregon, you’re probably well aware that all of Oregon’s beaches are public. While we love that we can always enjoy the beach, it means that for weddings, your event isn’t going to be 100% private. We can assist by notifying people who are setting up close to your event, setting up signage, and monitoring the area, but there is only so much we can do in a public space. You will also need to obtain a special event permit for a gathering of over 50 people. This permit will allow you to bring in chairs, benches, arbors and other typical rentals, but you can always opt for a standing ceremony. Beach Weather We know and love Oregon for its temperate weather, but weather at the beach can be unpredictable. Often, it’s rainy AND windy. Be sure that your wedding has a good rain plan in the case that your open-air beach ceremony or outdoor ceremony gets rained out. Tents will not hold up to the coastal wind, even if you found a rental company that will allow it on the beach. However, we live for days like Grace and Taylor's wedding (right) where it's warm and blue skies. AirBnB’s One request we get often is to host a small wedding from a local AirBnB - yes, you can get married in a rental property! But, there are a few restrictions. For one, if you have your eyes on a property, you will need to check directly with the host or owner of the home - sometimes, you’ll need to book the house outside of the AirBnB to host an event there. But once you get approval, here are a few other considerations you’ll need to keep in mind: Guest Count: You’ll also need to make sure your guest count isn’t exceeding the property’s limit, so plan your guest list accordingly. AirBnB weddings on the coast are best for micro weddings and elopements. Noise Ordinance: assuming the property is in a residential area, you’ll need to adhere to local noise ordinances - the last thing we want is for the police to roll up to your wedding due to a noise complaint. Food: Keep in mind that there are some restrictions about how food can be served in a rental property. Typically, a caterer cannot cook or prep inside the residential kitchen of an AirBnB or rental property per the Oregon Food Sanitation Rules. That means you’ll need to make sure your ideal caterer has a community or other local kitchen for food preparation. There is some gray area around hiring a personal chef for a smaller group. Insurance: always always always opt for getting event insurance! Better yet, make sure your vendors are also insured in the case of any mishaps or damages. Nothing dampers a wedding like legal issues. The best thing you can do to ensure your Oregon Coast wedding goes smoothly is to hire a wedding planner or coordinator. As PNW wedding planners, we’ve planned and coordinated quite a few coastal weddings over the last few years and had our eyes on a few venues we’d love to be at. Below you’ll find the venues that we’ve been to and loved, and a few that are on our bucket list! And if you’re looking for vendors to build out your wedding team, read to the end to see our preferred list of vendors who are local to the Oregon Coast. Oregon Coast Wedding Venues Capella By The Sea Brookings, OR Photographer: Luke + Mallory Why We Love Them: Capella by the Sea is a one of a kind glass chapel nestled in the forest of the Southern Oregon coast. Believe us when we say that our jaw dropped when we first saw this place! This chapel was built in 2009, made with native wood and stone and built in memory of the builder’s late wife (the sweetest love story!). The view overlooks the coastal sky and is situated along Highway 101, just a drive away from various other lookouts and trails and roads down to the oceanfront. This chapel can accommodate up to 49 people, and comes equipped with built-in benches. It’s owned and operated by the City of Brookings, and can be rented by the hour. Insider Tip: If you’re in love with this ceremony space, you’ll need a great reception space to pair with it. Consider looking into renting the vacation rentals and event spaces at Crook Point in Brookings, OR. There are both large and intimate spaces to host your guests, and it’s an incredible space to spend the weekend on the southern coast. Cannon Beach Community Hall Cannon Beach, OR Photographer: Lindsay Blair Photography Why We Love Them: The Cannon Beach Community hall is the perfect place to celebrate your wedding on the Oregon Coast but in the safety of a covered and heated building. Most community halls are simple blank spaces, but we love how this one has some coastal charm. Its wooden interior and stone fireplace make the venue feel warm and cozy, and the exposed beam and rafters allow for added hanging greenery or draping for an elevated look. When we helped Michael and Maddie plan their wedding here, we helped them secure a beach permit for a ceremony on the beach at the Cannon Beach access point off Ecola Court, and set up their reception at Cannon Beach Community Hall. If it ended up raining, we were prepared to flip the space at the Hall for a fully indoor wedding! They even rented the space for an additional day to host their rehearsal dinner. The 34’ x 30 feet open space can house up to 130 guests, and we love that the venue rental grants you access to the space from 8:00am to 1:00 am - plenty of time for set up and all your festivities. The space is fairly minimal, but does include bathrooms and a prep kitchen for your catering team to set up shop, 86 folding chairs, over a dozen 6ft folding tables, and the option to add and use their projector and screen rental. And the best part? It’s super affordable, starting at $900 in the off season. Insider Tip: While the Community hall comes with some included inventory, you’ll need to rent a few additional items. We love using Cannon Beach Party Rentals to secure additional or alternative chairs, extra tables, linens and even decor. You’ll also want to make sure you have a good set up team or a coordination team to help set up, especially if you opt for a beach ceremony. Since the beach is public, you’ll want someone keeping an eye on the rentals or decor on the beach as well as someone to set up at the community hall. Our packages always include two planners on the day of, so we have you covered! Crook Point Brookings, OR Photographer: Luke + Mallory (1-4), Amy Fitch (5-6), & Katy Weaver Photography (7-10) This venue was also featured in our Oregon Destination Wedding Venue Blog! Why We Love Them: Believe us when we say there is some type of magic in this place, and you’ll know it the minute you step foot onsite. Crook Point is located down in the SW corner of Oregon and is one of the few and only places in Oregon that has a private stretch of the Oregon Coast and one of the only views of the iconic Arch Rock. It’s the perfect blend of a beach venue and a woodland forest venue, situated up on the coastal cliffs in gorgeous meadows surrounded by trees that overlook the oceans. Crook Point has been owned by the Crook family for hundreds of years - so long that it precedes the Oregon Public Beach Law, so it’s one of the few and only places that has a private section of the Oregon Coast. This venue is also a vacation rental, so you can book out all or some of the dreamy beach houses to stay the weekend, all of which have private access to the sandy beaches (we highly recommend booking the accommodations to get to enjoy all the magic of Brookings, Oregon!). This venue spreads across hundreds of acres, with multiple places to host your elopement or wedding with a view from the cliffs of the Oregon Coast. The Arch Rock Main Lawn is the space we love and know the best, and can host larger weddings if you are not planning an elopement. Your Perfect Bridesmaid was one of the first planners to work at Crook Point and we had the honor of helping to support this family and make an incredible experience for couples hosting their wedding onsite. This venue also recently opened a new indoor venue space, The Mervue Estate, that was only in the beginning stages of construction when we first started planning weddings here in 2019 for our dear friend Katy Weaver Photography. This venue continues to grow and improve, and we continue to love being there. Insider Tip: We have so much to share about this venue, being the planning team who has worked there the most! There is no contender for Crook Point, but you will need to plan for a few logistical complications. There aren’t too many options for accommodations in town, so you’ll want to reserve the vacation rentals ASAP or warn your guests that they may need to look out 30 minutes to the next town. The Arch Rock Main Lawn doesn’t have running water or a traditional prep kitchen, so you will need to plan to stock up on water and ice from the store and hire a catering team that can bring in the proper equipment and help manage these complications. You’ll either need to have your caterer build your kitchen, or look at local caterers and be sure to hire on service staff. We always work closely with catering teams and make sure all the boxes are checked so you have a seamless wedding. Being that we’ve been here so many times, we’ve tried a few creative options and are happy to share what worked best. Pelican Brewing Pacific City, Siletz Bay at Lincoln City and Cannon Beach, OR Photographers: Why We Love Them: Pelican Brewery is one of the few venues that has an ocean view from the comforts of inside, with beach access right out their back doors. Plus, it’s an easy one-stop-shop venue because all the catering and drinks are organized in house, and they have all the tables, chairs and place settings needed to serve your guests! For stocking your bar, you can also bring in your own alcohol and just pay the corkage fee. The venue rental is broken down into the room rental fee, a beach rental fee, rental fees for chairs set up on the beach, and per person food packages. Pelican Brewing has three locations that host weddings: Pacific City, Siletz Bay in Lincoln City (new!) and Cannon Beach (for small events only) Insider Tip: Pelican Brewery rents their space for weddings year round, but you’ll find higher room rental fees in early and late summer months, and very limited availability and much higher rental minimums for July and August, since this is the busiest time of the year for beach visitors. Pelican Brewing in Pacific City The space at Pacific City can host between 40 and 80 guests. The reception space offers stunning views of Cape Kiwanda and Haystack Rock, and is situated right next to romantic inns to stay the weekend. Alante and Jake’s wedding (featured in Oregon Wedding Day!) started at the nearby Headlands Coastal Lodge and Spa, where they got ready together and read private vows to each other, and then moved to Pelican Brewing just up the road for a beach ceremony and indoor reception. Photographer: Kilen Murphy Pelican Brewing at Siletz Bay in Lincoln City The newest location is such a dream! We had the opportunity to plan and design a styled shoot to show off the Seaview Room, desired for larger events. This location has 5 different private spaces to rent, depending on your guest size, but the Seaview room was made for events. We love the outdoor balcony that overlooks the bay! Photographer: KMT Photo The Ruins at The Astor Astoria, OR Photographer: Marcela Pulido Why We Love Them: If you’re looking for a unique coastal venue not too far from Portland, this is it! The Ruins at The Astor is located in Astoria, OR - the most charming beach town on the northern tip of Oregon. This historic space is one of a kind space. It was originally Hotel Astoria, built in 1921 to be the tallest building in Astoria. Today, the original lobby of the hotel is what we know and love as The Ruins. This space feels like a hidden gem, with so many original details intact but weathered in a romantic kind of way. We’re obsessed with the original tiled floors! We love that this space lets you choose all your vendors, and that a venue rental on the weekend grants you access for the entire weekend. That means there is no rush to get in or out of your venue, and you have time to set up and grand designs in the beautifully lofted space. Insider Tip: One thing to keep in mind is that since this space was not originally designed to be a venue, there aren’t many options for storage or back of house areas, meaning that most of the space is visible during the event. However, we can work with you to secure a strategic caterer and the necessary rentals and staffing to have a food truck or drop-off catering at your wedding, or just work with your full-service caterer to build a strategic layout. Surfsand Resort Cannon Beach, OR Photographer: Sweetlife Photography Why We Love Them: Surfsand Resort is the perfect venue for you if you want a luxurious and convenient beach wedding experience where you can stay the weekend onsite in oceanfront suites. Dinner at Surfsand is catered by the neighboring Wayfarer Restaurant with classic and elevated seafood menu items - because if you’re doing a beach wedding, you might as well have fresh caught fish served! There are options for a plated dinner, buffet dinner, cocktail hour dinner and even a brunch buffet! Surfsand has two spaces you can rent for your wedding reception, ranging from 50 to 250 guests. The Haystack Gardens is located just across the street from Surfsand Resort and can host 50 guests inside and 250 out on the private garden and lawn (which can be tented!) for an outdoor reception. The Oceanview Ballroom can host 160 seated, and offers a fully indoor experience with an uninterrupted view of the ocean and Haystack rock. For your ceremony, you can opt for the popular beach ceremony, which Surfsand will set up for you We helped coordinate Grace and Taylors wedding at Surfsand Resort, with a beach ceremony and reception in the Haystack Garden’s lawn under a tent. This space can only be rented June through September, and is a great way to enjoy the misty air throughout your entire wedding. Insider Tip: We love one-stop-shop venues, but for venues that include catering, you’ll need to make sure you budget for the food and drink minimum, as well as the 5% Cannon Beach Food tax and standard gratuity percentage of the food and drink total. Other perks of this venue are that a wedding venue rental also comes with a guaranteed room block! It can be difficult to find accommodation in the popular summer months, so this is a huge plus, especially if you have a handful of out of town guests. The prices are based on the normal nightly rate, but you are not held responsible for any rooms that are not booked - they will just be released back to the public after a specific date in your rental agreement. More Venues! There are so many other great venues that we haven't had the chance to work at yet, so we've listed a few more that we have our eyes on. Hydrangea Ranch Tillamook, OR Photographer: Jennifer Lourie This is a hidden gem that we would love to connect a couple with! The Hydrangea Ranch is in Tillamook, Oregon, nestled in the Oregon Coastal Ranch. While this is not a beach front property, it’s an incredibly picturesque venue spanning over acres of fields and gardens, just close to the coast. There is both an enclosed barn and an open air pavilion to host your reception, and endless options for ceremony. This venue has so much potential! We can hardly believe how much is included for the price it’s at. It’s pet friendly, includes a kitchen prep space with an ice machine, cooler, food warmers and more (unheard of for many outdoor venues, and a venue rental gets you the space for the WHOLE WEEKEND. If you are an outdoors Bay Point Landing Coos Bay, OR Photographer: Jennifer Lourie Bay Point Landing is a dreamy, modern coastal getaway venue. We’re a sucker for a beautifully designed space that speaks for itself, and the Scandinavian-inspired space is exactly that. This venue is just steps away from the bay, and the lofted event space has panoramic floor to ceiling windows and skylights to take in the view and sunlight. The biggest perk we think is the beautiful teakwood furniture that’s included with the rental. We’ll take wooden furniture over plastic folding chairs and tables any day! It comes with large tables and benches that seat up to 72 guests, as well as a few sets of lounge furniture. The fireplace is usable, and you can even open the garage doors to let in that misty sea breeze. Not only that, but Bay Point Landing also offers modern cabins, airstream suites and RV campsites for a beach glamping experience.
